2016 Breeders' Cup Classic
What is there not love about this sport? Two great horses dueling at the head of a good field. Two great jockeys showing us how it's done. The mountains in the back have always made it a beautiful contest.

Classic Empire runs a great race for the victory. The most impressive part of the race was the late stretch run. Classic Empire showed a great deal of stamina for the win. Julien R. Leparoux led the half brother of American Pharaoh to the win.

In a race for the ages, the sport’s grand dame Beholder (Henny Hughes) just got her nose in front of the previously unbeaten sophomore star Songbird (Medaglia d’Oro) after a toe-to-toe, eye-to-eye stretch-long battle in the GI Longines Breeders’ Cup Distaff at Santa Anita Friday (TDN)
With a three-wide move in the final turn, Beholder looked undefeated Songbird in the eye and the rest of the field essentially disappeared as the gaze of an entire sport locked on the two champions. In a stretch run that will be remembered forever, it was the older, more experienced champion who edged the other by the slimmest of margins at Santa Anita Park in what was Beholder's final race. 10-27 @Keeneland Kismet's Heels #7 from Post Pos 7 ~ After a rough start, stalks from 3rd., pounces before the third and then fights off a game front runner before drawing clear.

Keen Ice Will Be At Breeder's Cup
Donegal Racing's Jerry Crawford confirmed Oct. 23 grade I winner Keen Ice will be pre-entered in the Nov. 5 Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I) at Santa Anita Park.
"He's never looked better," Crawford said. "We're certainly aware of the fact that he's pointing at 30-1, and we understand why, but it's an intersection for us of the right distance and the right pace scenario with Melatonin, California Chrome , and Arrogate. I am taking the time to do something I seldom do at this venue and that’s pass on some thoughts about the blog itself. I have enjoyed updating the blog since I started it a year or so ago, That’s going to continue.
In order to cover the most important races, I will be making a few changes to the races I place on the blog.
First, I am going to cover higher purse races than in the past during the week. Until now, I have placed races free-form and randomly. On the weekends, I have placed Stakes races since the start and that will continue.
Second, I intend to do a few posts and maybe gradually more, about jockeys, trainers and horse bloodlines.
